Good News

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Bishop Patrick has appointed Father Jonathan Rose to become our new parish priest. He will be resident at St. Mary’s Grantham towards the end of the last week in August and will celebrate Mass in the parish for the first time over the weekend of the 28th/29th August.

As many of you may know, Fr Jonathan is currently the Bishop’s Private Secretary, and Catholic Chaplain to the University of Nottingham, posts he has held for the past five years. Prior to this he was assistant priest at the Cathedral of St. Barnabas and St. Augustine’s Woodborough Road, Nottingham. Fr Jonathan grew up in Southwell Nottinghamshire and trained for the diocesan priesthood at the Royal English College, Valladolid, Spain and The Pontifical Beda College, Rome. Fr Jonathan was ordained to diaconate in the Basilica of St Paul’s, outside the Walls, Rome, in 2014, by the former Head of the Papal Household, Cardinal James Harvey, and he was ordained to the presbyterate, in the Cathedral of St. Barnabas, by Bishop Patrick, in July 2015.

Fr Jonathan comes to us with a wealth of pastoral experience. He is a people’s person, with a keen sense of humour and love of life. I would like to wish him all the best and cannot express how delighted I am personally that he is joining us here at St. Marys Grantham and I know you will be blessed in him and through him.  Please keep Fr Jonathan in your prayers as he prepares to come to live and minister here.

What is the Veil Removed?

The Veil Removed is a short film that reveals the coming together of heaven and earth at Mass, as seen by saints and mystics, revealed by scripture and in the catechism of the Catholic Church.
