Newsletter 21st June 2020

Dear Parishioners,

Many thanks to our team who are helping to get the Church ready for opening as soon as we can. We have sent off the required documentation to the Diocese and are waiting to receive permission to open.
We still need more stewards for now and also in preparation for when we resume Public Masses. I hope this will be in July. Anyone is welcome who is under 70 and not shielding or living with such a person. Please send me your name, email and telephone number if you wish to volunteer and in doing that you imply permission to pass on those details to our Parish Coordinator. I will send out a Parish Volunteer Form. It would be wonderful to have some of our young people involved!!
The initial proposal is, when we are ready, to open on a Wednesday Morning, Saturday and Sunday morning. I hope this will enable all people whether working or not to visit. From about 10.00 am – 12 noon each morning is the proposal. We will let you know when we are ready. It will be a first phase looking towards Public Masses in July sometime which will present their own challenges in respect of social distancing. Richard and Teresa Wilk have kindly agreed to coordinate planning and volunteers in reopening the church.

Please see the message from our Bishop as the Cathedral reopened:

We have also thoroughly cleaned the Halls upstairs & Downstairs ready for a new beginning. Many thanks to Sylvia, Phil Vicky and Andrew. We are 3 trailer loads of “stuff” lighter!

Fathers Day

This Sunday 21st June I would like to wish all Fathers and Grandfathers a Happy Fathers Day ! We give thanks for all the things they do for their families as well during these unprecedented times. Fatherhood is dreadfully undervalued in our society.
