Newsletter- The Most Holy Trinity
Dear Parishioners
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity. On this Sunday the liturgy invites us to praise God not merely for the wonders that he has worked, but for who he is; for the beauty and goodness of his being from which his action stems. We are invited, so to speak, to contemplate the Heart of God, his deepest reality which is his being One in the Trinity, a supreme and profound communion of love and life. The mystery of the Trinity: one God in three persons. God is the Lover (Father, Creator), the Beloved (Son, Saviour), and the Love which flows between them (Holy Spirit, Counsellor). You may wish to look online at Rublev’s famous Icon which suggests the love the Holy Trinity has for us in the humility, harmony, and mutual love of the three persons. If you look closely at the icon, you will see the space at the front of the table inviting you to share in this love and life.
Laura Tester – Reception into Full Communion with the Catholic Church: This Sunday at Mass we welcome Laura into the Church, who after a period of catechesis and discernment has decided to make this important next step in her faith journey. It is a great joy for me as parish priest and a great blessing for our parish community to welcome Laura into full communion with the Church. She has with her husband and her family come regularly to Mass both at the weekend and in the week and has already become a familiar face in our congregation. Please keep Laura in your prayers that God will continue to bless her journey in the faith and that she may know the great joy of being a full member now of Christ’s Church. We continue to hold in prayer all those who continue to discern a call to become members of the Catholic Church, that the Lord will continue to guide them and support them with his love.
First Holy Communion Mass: On Saturday 21st June at 11 am: Our First Holy Communion Candidates will receive Holy Communion for the first time, next Saturday in church, at a special Mass celebrated by me. Please continue to keep them and their families and our parish catechists in your prayers this week as this important day for them draws ever closer.
Corpus Christi: We celebrate next weekend at all our Sunday Masses, 21st and 22nd June, the great Solemnity of Corpus Christi (the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ). Following the 9.30 am Mass and in place of the Final Blessing, we will have a procession of the Blessed Sacrament out through the main entrance of church, walking in procession on the pavement and up Barrowby Road, past the church halls and into my driveway and through the memorial garden and back through the main entrance into church. After which the Blessed Sacrament will be enthroned upon the Altar and Benediction will take place.
With my prayers for you and for your families during the coming week ahead. Please keep me also in your own.
Your parish priest and friend,
Fr Jonathan
